Promise Made- New York Candidate for Governor Vows To Fire Manhattan D.A. on Day 1

Rep. Lee Zeldin, the Republican candidate for governor in New York, vowed on Sunday to fire liberal Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on his first day in office and reiterated criticism of his opponent, Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, for standing by the state’s controversial bail reform law.  "Democrats – just like Republicans and Independents – are fed up with not feeling safe on our streets," Zeldin said during an appearance on Fox News’ "Sunday Morning Futures."  "My first act on my first day in office is telling the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg that he’s going to be fired," he continued. "Here in New York, we’ve seen cashless bail as a failure. It’s caused crime to increase. It needs to be repealed. Judges need discretion to weigh dangerousness. It is pro-criminal laws and DA’s refusing to their jobs, judges refusing to do theirs in some other cases and people less safe as a result."  Overall crime in New York is up by nearl

A former Democrat sheriff blamed anti-police rhetoric Wednesday for the crime surge in Asheville, North Carolina, as rising crime has hit the popular tourist destination in recent years. Former Buncombe County Sheriff Van Duncan, who left the Democratic Party, joined "Fox & Friends First" to discuss what led to the crime surge in recent years as fears surrounding public safety loom.  "Even though we were making good strides in the community and reducing the crime rate, we still saw ourselves coming in as a negative in the community and in the eyes of some of the leftist politicians that were… getting elected at that time," Duncan told co-host Todd Piro. * * * "We have a very large homeless population here in Asheville, and what we've seen with the dismissal rates for panhandling, for loitering, for those type things that really … makes it tough for them to operate here in Asheville," Duncan said. "When you see those kinds of dismissal rates,

The Bail Post Episode No. 19- You Can Believe Your "Lying Eyes" On Misdemeanor Bail Reform in Harris County

Image
Have you ever heard of the expression that you cannot believe your "lying eyes?"  Its a way of saying don't believe what you see, believe what you are being told.  No where is this more evident than in Harris County regarding misdemeanor bail reform.  Reformers tell us over and over that the reforms are working and that we should not believe anyone else who says otherwise (even the Democrat District Attorney). In this episode of The Bail Post, we evaluate whether the misdemeanor reforms are working looking at the failure to appear rates for each of the misdemeanor courts for the last two years.  The numbers are jaw dropping.  Additionally, we are releasing a website where any one  in the public can go and see the numbers for themselves.  There is no way to sugar coat this.  The numbers are not just bad; they are eye openingly bad.  They are so bad that our elected officials have to know and have to be intentionally hiding them.   This probably explains why the bad results
