Louisiana Supreme Court Rules BLM Organizer Can Be Sued By People Injured During Riot

Image
On Friday, the Lousiana Supreme Court handed down a ruling in which a Baton Rouge police officer will be allowed to proceed with a lawsuit against Black Lives Matter organizer DeRay Mckesson. The police officer, who remains anonymous at the time of this writing, was apparently injured when he was hit with objects by violent protestors while in the process of making an arrest during a riot in 2016. Local news reported that "...the officer, identified in a lawsuit as John Doe instead of by name, claims he was seriously wounded after demonstrators began to 'loot a Circle K' for water bottles," and that "...the demonstration was part of larger demonstrations in the aftermath of the police killing of Alton Sterling." The rioters then started to throw the water bottles at officers who were arresting their friends. According to the lawsuit, events escalated from simple water bottles quickly, "When the Defendants ran out of the water bottles they were throwin...

Indiana Will Get To The Bottom Of Black Lives Matter: State AG Rokita

Image
The "Ingraham Angle" host Laura Ingraham asked Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita about the government's duty to "find out where that money went and how it was spent" after two states threatened legal action against Black Lives Matter. TODD ROKITA: It's another thing that's falling to the states, and so be it. We're going to, we're going to pick up this matter and we're going to get to the bottom of it. You know, some of me, Laura, says, 'You know what? A lot of this money is from woke corporations. You know, they get what they deserve.' But even those woke corporations have shareholders like me and you and regular people and pension funds, and they've got to be focused on making a return for us, and not this social gobbledygook that leads us nowhere. And then what about the hoosier who sees Black Lives Matter and is like, 'Oh yeah, I want to be supportive of that. I'm for equality,' like we all are, and gives them $...

Black Lives Matter Is Imploding In Scandal

Image
“It appears that the house of cards may be falling,” says Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, the legal entity that snarfs up most cash donated to the BLM movement. Indeed, “this happens eventually with nearly every scam, scheme or illegal enterprise.” It’s not just Indiana: The states of Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina and Virginia have all revoked BLMNGF’s charitable registration, while California and Washington are threatening to hold the nonprofit’s officers personally liable for its lack of financial transparency. The outfit has failed to file taxes for 2020, the year it raised tens of millions after George Floyd’s death at police hands and the rioting and protests that followed. It has no official leader overseeing its $60 million war chest after its co-founder resigned in May. And that co-founder, Patrisse Cullors-Khan, is tied to several other fundraising organizations whose finance...

Memphis BLM Founder Pamela Moses Sentenced To 6 Years For Illegally Voting

Image
Photo- Shelby County Sheriff's Office The founder of the Black Lives Matter chapter in Memphis has been sentenced to prison for six years for illegally registering to vote in Tennessee, prosecutors said. Pamela Moses, the 44-year-old activist, was ordered to spend six years and one day behind bars Monday for registering to vote despite felony convictions in 2015 that made her ineligible to do so, Shelby County District Attorney General. Amy Weirich said. In handing down the sentence, Judge Michael Ward accused her of deceiving the probation department to obtain the right to vote, “You tricked the probation department into giving you documents saying you were off probation,” Ward said in court, the Washington Post reported. In 2015, Moses pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and forgery, both felonies, and to misdemeanor charges of perjury, stalking, theft under $500, and escape. She was placed on probation for seven years and deemed ineligible to vote in Tennessee because of...

Working-Class People Of Color Hate The Riots The Lefty Elite Keeps Cheering

Image
When Americans fight about race or culture, the fight is almost always really about social class. And that shows up in today’s discussions about riots and policing. The Daily Caller recently sent a video correspondent to Brooklyn Center, Minn., scene of many police-shooting-related riots, and to Washington, DC, home of America’s ruling class, and asked people in both places when and if rioting was justified. The answers differed sharply. In Brooklyn Center, where the destruction was visible firsthand, respondents (nearly all black men of various ages) overwhelmingly opposed rioting. An African-American man in an “Army Veteran” hat commented: “We’re human, and we want to be treated with respect,” but we also need to show “respect.” A man in construction gear remarked: “I guarantee you the people that were looting, nine times out of 10, weren’t from this area. . . . If you feel the need to lash out, then don’t get mad when people, you know, address you as a looter or a rioter.” A woman i...

New York City: A Mad Dash To Exit as The City Goes Down The Tubes

Image
It’s not just a few Upper West Siders who are fleeing New York: Moving companies say they’re swamped with calls from residents looking to ditch the city — even though the COVID crisis has waned. One likely reason: The virus was but the last straw; New Yorkers are fed up with the shootings and lootings, homelessness on the streets, sub-par online schools, sky-high taxes and the sheer obliviousness of pols like Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo. On Sunday, The Post highlighted families who’ve given up on the Upper West Side — now teeming with junkies, the homeless, convicts and others — and are headed for greener pastures outside Gotham. Meanwhile, Fox Business reports that moving companies are seeing a continuing surge in citywide business that began soon after the COVID outbreak. And while many of those fleeing may come from Manhattan, the trend is surely not confined to the Upper West Side. It’s been “insanely busy,” Roadway Moving president Ross Sapir to...

Chicago Looters Smash Ronald McDonald House with Terrified Sick Kids Inside

Image
Sick kids and their families cowered in fear inside a Chicago Ronald McDonald House as looters smashed the front door while trying to get inside this week, according to staff. The charity says more than 30 families, as well as some sick children with them, were left “frightened” by those who smashed windows as they ransacked the Windy City during Monday’s chaotic crime spree. “They very concerned there was a lot of activity right in front of the house, people making choices that could put them at risk and put our families at risk so the staff was frightened,” Ronald McDonald House Charities’ Lisa Mitchell told ABC7. The attacked property houses families so they and their children can be close to Lurie Children’s Hospital, which should be an easy and safe trip just five blocks away. “They are already in a really, really difficult spot, and having this kind of additional stress and worry about getting to and from the hospital … because of safety concerns is just doubl...

Bail Fund Supporters Pull Back Support

Image
The Massachusetts Bail Fund is a charity that pays the bail for prisoners who can’t afford it. The nationwide protest movement spurred by the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota has brought a flood of donations, empowering fund officials to pay much higher bails than they ever could before. But the group is facing backlash from its own supporters after it posted $15,000 bail to release a Level 3 sex offender who then allegedly raped and tried to strangle a Quincy woman within three weeks. Shawn McClinton had two previous convictions and a pending rape charge when the group freed him from the Nashua Street jail in July. On Friday, a student group at Boston University canceled a fund-raising concert for the Bail Fund scheduled for Aug. 7, saying they did not realize that the charity was freeing people accused of serious crimes. “We apologize for our ignorance about the Mass. Bail Fund and for triggering any trauma while recently supporting the fund,” said the school’s ra...

Utopian Goal, Meet Violent Reality. Place Where George Floyd Died Becomes Police No-Go Zone

Image
The NY Times reports that the area in Minneapolis where George Floyd was killed has become a memorial of sorts for people from all over the country who come to pay their respects. Because of the obvious tension with police, it has also become a no-go zone for the cops. And that has been fine during the day when things remain peaceful, but at night it becomes a different story: Two months after the police killing of George Floyd, the four-block area of South Minneapolis where he gasped his last breaths remains a sacred space, a no-go zone for officers. There is a neatly trimmed garden, anchored by a sculpture of a raised fist. There are colorful murals and the words “I can’t breathe” painted across the pavement, as well as the names of dozens of other Black people killed by the police.   At night, though, the space is increasingly a battleground, with shootings and drug overdoses. The area has had an uptick in gun violence similar to what other cities have seen in the ...

Barr Nukes Mainstream Narrative

Image
There was a lot of coverage of the Democrats’ efforts to take on Attorney General Bill Barr yesterday during a hearing largely about the federal response to the BLM riots. As has been reported, it largely blew up in their faces. There was even a highlight reel of his responses, which is terrific. Not only did Barr successfully defend himself from attack and “eat their lunch,” in the words of pundit Michael Goodwin, he went after them for their failure to condemn the rioting across the country and the people behind it with an assist from Jim Jordan, as we reported. Here’s the clip that Jordan played, that showed the widow of David Dorn among other victims and a lot of the horrible attacks and violence that have been a part of these riots. That really puts paid to the ‘peaceful’ narrative Democrats have tried to construct. Chicago UPDATE- Outnumbered and Unprepared, 18 Police Officers Hurt Regarding Christopher Columbus Statute Protest

Image
Eighteen Chicago Police officers were injured in a protest Friday, the department said in a statement. A large group gathered for a protest around 4:20 p.m. local time, the department said. Officers were there "providing security and protecting their First Amendment right to peaceful assembly," the statement said. Approaching a statue of Christopher Columbus, some people in the crowd used rocks, fireworks, frozen bottles and other objects to attack officers, the statement said. The attack resulted in 18 officers injured, the statement said. Some were taken to area hospitals by paramedics for further treatment and some were treated at the scene. About 12 people were arrested and could potentially face charges that may include battery to a police officer, mob action, and/or other felonies, according to the statement. 'We were outnumbered and unprepared,' officer says. A veteran Chicago Police officer said Saturday some police officers felt they weren't ready for Fri...

Black Community Leaders Ask NYPD to Return Plainclothes Anti-Crime Unit

Image
Nearly one month ago the New York Police Department announced that it was disbanding its anti-crime unit of approximately 600 plainclothes police officers, Law Officer reported. Their job was to blend in with the general population and to combat crime, particularly getting guns off the streets. However, some claimed it had been stoking distrust with law enforcement in minority communities. Yet the loudest voices were always those aligned with people committing crimes. “This is a seismic shift in the culture of how the NYPD polices this great city,” Commissioner Dermot Shea said in a statement at the time. “I would consider this in the realm of closing one of the last chapters of ‘Stop, Question and Frisk’… I think it’s time to move forward and change how we police in this city. We can do it with brains. We can do it with guile. We can move away from brute force.” Shea conceded that the decision does not come without “risk” and said the move is “squarely on my shoulders,” as it occurred...

Woman Arrested for Bashing Multiple Officers Described as "Kind, Generous and Peaceful"

Image
The woman accused of bashing police officers with a wooden cane on the Brooklyn Bridge this week was ordered held on $7,500 bail during her Friday morning arraignment. When Officer Antonio Torres tried to arrest her, she kicked him and locked her arms — prompting Torres to request help from other cops, according to the complaint. “The defendant then bit one of the arresting officers in the head,” Khazly said. The woman was brought to the 5th Precinct station house in Lower Manhattan, where she was escorted out in handcuffs and leg irons and put into an ambulance shortly after noon. Exclusive video shows that although her wrists were shackled behind her back, she managed to work her hands around to flip the bird at reporters. Asked to explain her alleged actions on the bridge, the woman — who wore a shirt saying “WANTED” in yellow letters — denied any involvement in Wednesday’s incident. “I didn’t attack nobody,” she said. Reyes has been charged with second-degree assault, obstructing g...

Cuomo Concedes Rikers Island Release of Inmates Cause of Part of NYC Crime Spike

Image
The release of inmates from Rikers Island jails during the coronavirus crisis, failure of district attorneys to enforce the law and steady flow of anti-police brutality protests have all fed into a spike in violent crimes in New York City, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday. The governor also emphasized the poisoned relations between the NYPD and New Yorkers as a trigger in the uptick in crime. “May it have contributed? Yeah,” Cuomo said when asked about the city’s release of 2,500 inmates from Rikers to help curb the spread of COVID-19. Of those inmates released, 13 percent were rearrested. “You’re saying 13 percent were rearrested. Well, then those 13 percent contributed, right?” the governor said. “I think the point is right that these are contributing circumstances that frankly are conspiring as a negative synergy that is going on.” The Post reported last month that 10 percent of those released from Rikers since March, when the coronavirus walloped the city, had since been rearrested...

Father of Black Teen Killed in CHOP Devastated

Image
Horace Lorenzo Anderson, the father of a 19-year-old black teen shot and killed inside Seattle’s Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) is speaking out. Horace Lorenzo Anderson, Jr., was the first person killed in CHOP, more than a week ago, during an outbreak of gun violence inside of the “autonomous zone.” Anderson’s father, Anderson, Sr., spoke late Monday, after another black teen, this time a 16-year old, was killed in the CHOP over the weekend, and a 14-year-old left wounded. “I ain’t been sleeping. You see my eyes. I’ve been crying. I’m trying not to cry on TV,” Anderson said in the Monday press conference, according to KIRO Seattle. “This doesn’t look like a protest to me no more,” said Anderson. “That just looks like they just took over and said we can take over whenever we want to.” Since last week, at least two people have been killed and several others wounded in CHOP gun violence. And although Seattle’s mayor Jenny Durkan has pledged to bring an end to the demonstration, whi...

Sacramento Prosecutor Reprimanded for Making "Personal Attack" at Bail Hearing

Image
Late last week, what appeared to be a routine bail review hearing in Sacramento County Superior Court quickly morphed into a sometimes heated exchange between defense and prosecution lawyers over discovery issues. The defendant, Clenton Drew, was initially in court to review his bail amount. But his private defense attorney, Alexander Asterlin, suggested Deputy District Attorney Mark Ott was withholding information. Asterlin started the hearing by noting two issues about Drew’s case. The first was access to emails promised by the DDA, and the second being the release of confidential calls by the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department (SSD). Asterlin requested Ott resend the emails, as well as respond about the calls forwarded to the attorney general. Asterlin concluded that he would be unable to move forward with the bail motion until all issues were resolved. Ott claimed he had sent Asterlin 17 emails on May 6 and 11 that linked to police reports on the case, but expired 30 days after being ...

L.A. County's New Zero Bail Rule Permits Police to Crack Down On Protests

Image
The Los Angeles County Superior Court recently approved a temporary measure setting bail at $0 for most misdemeanors and low-level felonies. The move was intended to reduce jail populations in a bid to slow the spread of the coronavirus. But several exemptions permit police departments to hold people on bail for misdemeanor offenses commonly associated with protests, including unlawful assembly and failure to disperse. The new measure comes amid the fifth week of nationwide demonstrations over the police killing of George Floyd and other Black Americans, which have resulted in thousands of arrests in L.A. County alone. The exceptions to the bail rule have alarmed advocates, prompting the possibility of legal action. “It’s hard to imagine a clearer violation of the First Amendment,” longtime civil rights attorney Carol Sobel said Monday upon learning of the revised bail rules. Sobel has won several large lawsuits against the LAPD over its handling of protests and is currently helping su...
