The Bail Post Episode No. 62- How Cartels Took Over the Legal Marijuana Drug Trade With Guest Daniel Greenfield

Image
This Episode of The Bail Post was recorded several months before the election last November.  When we attempted to post information regarding this episode on social media, it was immediately deleted.  After multiple attempts to post the information we began to question our decision to cover this matter.  Were we duped?  Were we just wrong?  Then the issue of cartels and drugs became an issue in the Presidential election.  Now that the election is over, it appears that this information was "suppressed" by social media. This episode of The Bail Post highlights how cartels are taking over the legal marijuana drug industry in California and in other states that have legalized the trade; taking advantage of lax immigration policies.  Our guest is Daniel Greenfield.  Daniel has been a writer, columnist and a journalist for nearly twenty years. In that time he has tackled stories across the country and around the world.  Daniel has worked alongside ...

Nathan Hochman Takes Office As New LA District Attorney- Hits the Ground Running

Image
In his first two days in office, new Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has rolled back on progressive policies backed by former district attorney George Gascón. “I’ll be prioritizing public safety while ensuring real and effective criminal justice reform,” Hochman said in a recent interview with Annenberg Media. “I believe you can do both at the same time.” Hochman’s first changes expanded the power of L.A. County prosecutors to enforce harsher sentences for crimes. This included dismantling Gascón’s Proposition 47, which stated that certain non-violent offenses, including stealing merchandise under the value of $950, would be reclassified as misdemeanors rather than felonies. Hochman backed Proposition 36, which passed into law on November 5. This legislation aimed to reinforce strict penalties for repeat offenders, specifically in regard to theft and drug-related crimes. Gascón’s restrictions on applying gang-related sentence enhancements . . . To see more CLI...

Rising Crime: Undermining Safety, Creating Chaos & Harming City Tax Bases- Why Is It So Political?

Image
Rising Crime:  Undermining Safety, Creating Chaos & Harming City Tax Bases-  Why Is It So Political? by Ken W. Good This article was published in the Attorney at Law Magazine October 7, 2024 Crime has become a political football, kicked back and forth across the electoral playing field. The public is receiving conflicting narratives about crime. One side argues that crime is increasing, while the other claims crime is on the decline — and that any belief to the contrary is driven by mere perception rather than reality. “People will use crime data to say whatever they want,” said Jeff Asher, a criminologist and co-founder of AH Datalytics. “When you don’t have that certainty of having nearly every agency reporting data, it means that you need a lot of literacy to be able to combat items that are being stated in bad faith.” In 2014, California passed Prop. 47, reclassifying a list of felony crimes as misdemeanors. The idea was that defendants would still face accounta...

California Legalized Drugs. Cartels Took It Over.

Image
Six years after California legalized marijuana, the bodies keep piling up. Earlier this year, six men were murdered in the Mojave Desert. Four of the men had been burned after being shot with rifles. In 2020, seven people were killed at an illegal pot operation in Riverside County. Violence like this was supposed to disappear after legalization. Legalization advocates argued that making the drug trade legal would end the grip of the cartels. Instead, the legal market has failed, and the cartels are taking over sizable parts of California and the rest of the country. California's legal drug revenues have fallen consistently, as have those in other legal drug states including Colorado, whose model helped sell the idea that drug money would fix everything. Despite falling revenues, Colorado legislators brag about $282 million in drug revenue. That number may sound high, but it's a drop in the bucket considering the money that the state and cities like Denver are spending on homele...

The Bail Post Episode No. 56- How the California Dream Turned Into a Nightmare With Guest Retried Chief Patrick Jordan

Image
Retired Chief Patrick Jordan worked for the L.A. County Sheriff's office for over 30 years.  He has intimate knowledge regarding  the California Criminal Justice System the reforms that have been pushed for years.  He talks about the litigation that began attacking the State's failure to provide proper mental health care and medical care which lead to a three judge panel placing a cap on the State's prison population.  The cases went all the way to the United States Supreme Court where Justice Alito questioned any order that would require the State to release the equivalent of three divisions of convicted criminals.  Alito predicted the action would lead to more crime.  Chief Jordan highlights the changes that have been made since and how those actions were not intended to do anything but reduce the number of people in jail even if crime increased.  Chief Jordan also provides insights into district attorneys who were supported by George Soros' groups. ...

The Bail Post Podcast- Episode 20- The California Model with Guest Bill Armstrong

Image
California has been the epicenter of the Criminal Justice Reform/Bail Reform movement.  Our guest is Bill Armstrong who is the President of the California Bail Agents Association.  California has seen several attempts to reform and get rid of the bail industry.  These changes can be traced back to when the State changed many felony offenses and made them misdemeanor offenses and then prosecutors in several urban areas decided that they would no longer prosecute these crimes.  This proposition and decisions of prosecutors started the slide of the state of California into chaos.  Now businesses are closing because either they cannot withstand wholesale shoplifting to the tune of $25,000.00 a day or the employers cannot provide a safe place for their employees to work. Since then California's legislature has attempted to go even further. But the voters have refused to go along.    California attempted to adopt the New Jersey Plan, but voters said no. ...

California- Gascón Recall Campaign Says It Has More Than Enought Signatures To Officially Make Ballot

Image
A group seeking to recall Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said on Wednesday that it has collected enough signatures to qualify for the ballot. In a statement, the Recall DA George Gascón campaign announced it has has surpassed 566,857 signatures collected as of Tuesday, "which equates to 10% of registered voters" in the county "and is the required threshold to officially initiate a recall." "This is the most signatures ever collected in Los Angeles County for any petition," the group claimed. Organizers said their focus has now turned to collecting as many additional signatures as possible to ensure there is a necessary "cushion" to offset those that are invalidated by the county registrar of voters. The campaign's stated goal is to submit 650,000 - 700,000 total signatures or more. "We are officially within striking distance of initiating a recall against George Gascón, but the urgency for signature collection in th...

People Are Sick of the Crime; Is a Backlash Coming?

Image
The Fraternal Order of Police has been clear that a major cause of crime in America has been rogue prosecutors willfully ignoring their job. The American people, across all demographics, are fed up with crime and disorder in their neighborhoods.  Crime is now the top issue in the coming election. Joe Gamaldi- Make no mistake: a law and order wave is coming. And it started with former DA Chesa Boudin... who is now looking for a job!

California- Orange County Law and Order D.A. Dominates in High Stakes Race

Image
The first round of election night results show Orange County DA Todd Spitzer trouncing his three challengers seeking to control one of the most powerful offices in the region – and possibly on track to win the race outright without a runoff. Spitzer, who was endorsed by the OC Republican Party, was leading 62% to criminal defense attorney Peter Hardin’s 20%, in the first results posted at 8:05 p.m. The other two challengers – U.S. Department of Justice lawyer Bryan Chehock and former DA prosecutor Mike Jacobs – trailed at 10% and 8%, respectively. About 253,000 ballots have been counted so far, representing 14% of all registered voters in OC – though additional ballots will be counted and reported later this evening and in the coming days. If Spitzer’s lead ends up about 50% of the vote after all ballots are counted, he will not face a runoff in November. No local race drew as much attention in the primary election cycle as District Attorney, one of the most powerful positions in...

CNN- California Voters Send A Stark Message To Democrats On Crime And Homelessness

Image
Voters in two of the most liberal cities in America sent a clear message to the Democratic Party on Tuesday: they want their leaders to refocus on the most basic functions of government by ensuring their safety, protecting their quality of life and restoring order. For months now, voters in San Francisco and Los Angeles have voiced their concerns that daily life in their cities appears to be spiraling out of control. Residents in San Francisco have been contending with a rise in burglaries and car thefts, as well an alarming spate of hate crimes directed against Asian Americans. Los Angeles residents have witnessed a sharp increase in violent crime, while city leaders have been grappling with a homelessness crisis that has led to the proliferation of tents and trash across parks, sidewalks and public spaces, while exposing an untreated mental health emergency on their streets. On Tuesday, San Francisco voters registered their disquiet by recalling District Attorney Chesa Boudin a...

The Backlash Begins- San Francisco Removes D.A. Boudin

Image
San Francisco voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to recall Chesa Boudin, the city’s progressive district attorney, potentially dealing an enormous blow to a once ascendant criminal-justice-reform movement. In Los Angeles, on the same night, billionaire Rick Caruso won a plurality of votes with a tough-on-crime platform in the mayoral election, heading to a runoff with Democratic congresswoman Karen Bass. Both low-turnout elections played on complex local dynamics but were clear rejections of a certain strain of liberalism that buoyed reform-oriented prosecutors across the country and sought to defund the police. Los Angeles and San Francisco, Democrat-dominated cities, were at the vanguard of such efforts. Boudin was elected in 2019 and his predecessor, fellow progressive George Gascón, moved to Los Angeles in 2020 to defeat a more conservative incumbent. But the national rise in crime unsettled both cities, with a spike in burglaries and homicides repeatedly seizing headlines and r...

San Francisco Voters Recall Soros Backed Progressive D.A. Boudin: Crime and Homelessness At Issue

Image
Progressive Dist. Atty. Chesa Boudin, who became a lightning rod for controversies over crime and homelessness in San Francisco, will not finish his first term as the city’s top prosecutor. Some ballots remained to be counted Wednesday. But among the more than 123,000 votes tallied in the recall election, 60% of voters wanted to oust Boudin from office, an insurmountable margin. The bitter, expensive recall became a referendum on some of San Francisco’s most painfully visible social problems, including homelessness, property crime and drug addiction. The recall campaign painted Boudin as a soft-on-crime prosecutor who doesn’t care about public safety. And it tied his criminal reform policies to a wave of high-profile crimes, including a fatal hit-and-run involving a man on parole, a series of smash-and-grab robberies from high-end Union Square stores and a wave of attacks against elderly Asian American residents. Mary Jung, the chair of the recall campaign, said Tuesday night tha...
