Criminals Don't Obey Law or Shelter in Place Orders


There’s dumb, dumber, and dumbest. When I think of the idiots who decided that criminals should be released from jail to protect them from COVID-19, those descriptions apply. When you think that bail reform, meaning letting criminals go back onto the streets, is smart policy, it fits as well. But to believe that criminals are going to “shelter in place” and not do what they do, yeah, that is a special kind of stupid.
Thus, in the place where COVID-19 has hit the hardest — New York City — so has the virus of crime . . .

The Bail Post Episode No. 73- Let's Find Out What Is Iryna's Law With Guest Julie Henderson

On August 22, 2025, Iryna Zarutska was killed at the East/West Boulevard station on the Lynx Blue Line, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who had fled her country because of the Russian invasion, was stabbed from behind three times while seated on the train.  She did everything right.  She and her family immigrated to the United States legally.  They had a sponsor.  She was attending college and was working at a pizza shop.  At the time of the stabbing she was traveling home after work. The entire event was captured on video.  Initially, the video was not seen by the public.  Then everything changed when the mayor of Charlotte thanked the press for not distributing the video.  Then the video was everywhere.   In response to this terrible event, the North Carolina legislature passed Iryna's Law.  It was signed by the Democrat Governor. Scammers Steal $3,000 Posing As Bondsmen; Get Greedy and Get Caught

A day after scamming $3,000 from a Paterson woman, the suspects became greedy and ended up getting caught trying to steal another $500 from her, police said. The initial crime took place on Monday, when a woman telephoned a 54-year-old Paterson resident and told her that her nephew was in jail and being held on $3,000 bail, police said. The aunt handed over the money to bail him out, but then she received a second call on Tuesday from a woman saying her nephew was back in jail and needed $500 for bail, police said. The second time, the victim became suspicious and called her nephew who told her that he had not been in jail, police said. When the scammers showed up at the aunt’s Marshall Street home on Tuesday, her nephew was waiting for them, police said. But when the nephew confronted the woman who came to pick up the cash, her accomplice pulled up in a vehicle and pulled out a gun, police said. Meet the New President of PBT- Irma Montemayor

Is 2024 the Year of the Woman for the Professional Bondsmen of Texas?  At the recent annual meeting, Irma Montemayor was elected president of PBT.  She will serve for the next two years.  She is only the third woman to be elected President.  She has been involved in the bonding industry since she was 18. "It is my goal to continue to build on the legacy those before me have formed through hard work and dedication.  I pray for the wisdom in all my decisions and pledge to seek guidance and advise from those willing to collaborate in order to continue making PBTx the model association for the rest of the  Country.  God Bless the great State of Texas!"
