The Fuzzy Mic- COVID-19, Inmates, and Public Safety with Ken W. Good




COVID-19 has jurisdictions throughout the country debating how to handle the incarceration of individuals. Some states have begun releasing individuals already serving time, as well as those waiting trial.

Those who advocate for this feel it is inhumane to lock up individuals and place them in a situation where social distancing will not be possible or practical. It would also address jail overcrowding at a time when the courts have ground to a halt.

There is an argument that keeping people in jail or prison increases their risk of contracting and spreading the COVID-19 virus to one another because of sheer proximity. On the other hand, does the proposed solution -- simply releasing them into society -- increase the possibility of an uncontrolled spread of the coronavirus, while simultaneously causing an increase in crime?

Texas bail attorney and board member of the Professional Bondsmen of Texas, Ken W. Good shares his thoughts in this controversial episode of The Fuzzy Mic.

Kevin Kline is a 30 year radio veteran who currently co-hosts a country music morning show in Houston, TX.

Extremely active in his community, Kline co-founded a pediatric cancer non-profit organization called Snowdrop Foundation.

The Bail Post Episode No. 73- Let's Find Out What Is Iryna's Law With Guest Julie Henderson

On August 22, 2025, Iryna Zarutska was killed at the East/West Boulevard station on the Lynx Blue Line, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who had fled her country because of the Russian invasion, was stabbed from behind three times while seated on the train.  She did everything right.  She and her family immigrated to the United States legally.  They had a sponsor.  She was attending college and was working at a pizza shop.  At the time of the stabbing she was traveling home after work. The entire event was captured on video.  Initially, the video was not seen by the public.  Then everything changed when the mayor of Charlotte thanked the press for not distributing the video.  Then the video was everywhere.   In response to this terrible event, the North Carolina legislature passed Iryna's Law.  It was signed by the Democrat Governor. Trying to Understand Bail Reform and Cashless Bail in the Age of Online Misinformation

In today's digital landscape, identifying the truth about topics like bail reform and cashless bail can be challenging due to widespread disinformation, misinformation, and propaganda. In a recent article in AIA Surety's Insight newsletter their Vice President of Communications, Eric Granof, discusses how much of the information consumers digest comes from internet searches, particularly Google.  Someone asks a question and Google searches the web for the answer and aggregates the best results based on its algorithm.  The problem with this is that Google is not an expert on everything like people expect.  It is simply feeding up what its algorithm believes is the best answer rather than objective truth. Scammers Steal $3,000 Posing As Bondsmen; Get Greedy and Get Caught

A day after scamming $3,000 from a Paterson woman, the suspects became greedy and ended up getting caught trying to steal another $500 from her, police said. The initial crime took place on Monday, when a woman telephoned a 54-year-old Paterson resident and told her that her nephew was in jail and being held on $3,000 bail, police said. The aunt handed over the money to bail him out, but then she received a second call on Tuesday from a woman saying her nephew was back in jail and needed $500 for bail, police said. The second time, the victim became suspicious and called her nephew who told her that he had not been in jail, police said. When the scammers showed up at the aunt’s Marshall Street home on Tuesday, her nephew was waiting for them, police said. But when the nephew confronted the woman who came to pick up the cash, her accomplice pulled up in a vehicle and pulled out a gun, police said.
