Texarkana- 9 People Shot, 1 Critical at Halloween Party

 


Texarkana- Nine people have been shot and 1 critically injured at a Halloween party late Saturday night.

According to police, an emergency call came in just before midnight for a shooting at Octavia’s Activity Center on the 2300 block of Texas Blvd. There were more than 200 people there for a Halloween party at the time when the suspect opened fire.

When police arrived there were fights happening at the scene. It is not yet known if the suspect was an attendee at the party prior to the shooting.

Nine people were shot, 1 is critically wounded. Five are being treated at Wadley Regional Medical Center, 4 of them are at CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital. Some of the wounded drove themselves to the hospital.

Police do not currently have a suspect in custody.

On August 22, 2025, Iryna Zarutska was killed at the East/West Boulevard station on the Lynx Blue Line, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who had fled her country because of the Russian invasion, was stabbed from behind three times while seated on the train.  She did everything right.  She and her family immigrated to the United States legally.  They had a sponsor.  She was attending college and was working at a pizza shop.  At the time of the stabbing she was traveling home after work. Summary of the 2025 Texas Legislative Session- Bail Matters

  This is a summary of the bail bills or bills that may relate to the bail industry that were enacted in the 2025 Texas Legislative Session. HB 1522-  This bill amended the Texas Open Meetings Act to change the notice requirement from 72 hours to 3 business days.  The biggest impact of this change will impact Bail Bond Board meetings.  The notice now must be posted 3 business days before the meeting.  A weekend cannot be counted in that time period. To see the final bill CLICK HERE .  HB 1778- This bill created Section 43.032 of the Texas Penal Code with creates a new offense "Continuous Promotion of Prostitution."
