Man runs over bail bondsmen with vehicle, already had 3 felony warrants


 

In this week’s Ark-La-Miss Most Wanted, Chelsea Monae highlights a suspect wanted by police after running over two local bail bondsmen who were picking him up on three felony warrants.

On December 8, 2021, bail bondsmen went to retrieve Lowery on the above mentioned warrants which included one count of Failure to Appear in Court.

When bondsmen made contact with Lowery, he was sitting inside the driver’s side of a vehicle on South 8th Street in Monroe. The bondsmen announced themselves and began to open the vehicle door and attempted to apprehend him, but were unsuccessful.

Lowery then put the vehicle in reverse and struck both bondsmen with the door, knocking them both to the ground.

Have you seen Anthony A. Lowery? He is described as a Black Male, six feet tall and 200 pounds.

The Bail Post Episode No. 73- Let's Find Out What Is Iryna's Law With Guest Julie Henderson

On August 22, 2025, Iryna Zarutska was killed at the East/West Boulevard station on the Lynx Blue Line, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who had fled her country because of the Russian invasion, was stabbed from behind three times while seated on the train.  She did everything right.  She and her family immigrated to the United States legally.  They had a sponsor.  She was attending college and was working at a pizza shop.  At the time of the stabbing she was traveling home after work. The entire event was captured on video.  Initially, the video was not seen by the public.  Then everything changed when the mayor of Charlotte thanked the press for not distributing the video.  Then the video was everywhere.   In response to this terrible event, the North Carolina legislature passed Iryna's Law.  It was signed by the Democrat Governor. Meet the New President of PBT- Irma Montemayor

Is 2024 the Year of the Woman for the Professional Bondsmen of Texas?  At the recent annual meeting, Irma Montemayor was elected president of PBT.  She will serve for the next two years.  She is only the third woman to be elected President.  She has been involved in the bonding industry since she was 18. I.  Introduction This is the fourth in our four part a series regarding whether any county in Texas should adopt the Harris County model for bail reform. This article addresses what successful bail reform looks like. The private surety bail system has been in place for over 200 years. The purpose of bail is to allow someone accused of a crime to get out of jail while their case is pending. In exchange for freedom, the accused promises to appear in court any time it demands his appearance. If a defendant fails to appear, his or her bond is forfeited and a warrant is issued for their arrest. The criminal case is then placed on hold until the accused reappears. This could be for hours, days, weeks or even years -- and occasionally never. Scammers Steal $3,000 Posing As Bondsmen; Get Greedy and Get Caught

A day after scamming $3,000 from a Paterson woman, the suspects became greedy and ended up getting caught trying to steal another $500 from her, police said. The initial crime took place on Monday, when a woman telephoned a 54-year-old Paterson resident and told her that her nephew was in jail and being held on $3,000 bail, police said. The aunt handed over the money to bail him out, but then she received a second call on Tuesday from a woman saying her nephew was back in jail and needed $500 for bail, police said. The second time, the victim became suspicious and called her nephew who told her that he had not been in jail, police said. When the scammers showed up at the aunt’s Marshall Street home on Tuesday, her nephew was waiting for them, police said. But when the nephew confronted the woman who came to pick up the cash, her accomplice pulled up in a vehicle and pulled out a gun, police said.
