PBT Annual Meeting Is Quickly Approaching- Loyalty Lives Here!

The Professional Bondsmen of Texas will be hosting their 52nd Annual Convention this month in San Antonio at the historic Menger Hotel across from the Alamo.  This year's theme is "Loyalty Lives Here!"

Irma Montemayer and her committee are hoping to surpass the record attendance from last year.  Irma is a strong advocate for the Professional Bondsmen of Texas and she believes strongly in the organization's goals. The idea from this year's theme grew from the end of the last legislative session and the enormous victory with Senate Bill 6.  Irma Montemayor said, "I was driving home thinking about things and how they ended up and all the people who stepped up and played a key role in the effort."  At that moment Irma drove by a business that had a sign in the window that read, “Loyalty Lives Here.”  It was at that moment that she realized that was a perfect theme for the next PBT annual meeting.

What does the theme mean?  Irma explained, “Well, if you look up the definition of loyalty you will see the first line describes it as ‘a strong feeling of support or allegiance.’  When it comes to PBT and Texas bondsmen, that is exactly what you get-- a strong feeling of support from both PBT to its members and vice versa.  That loyalty is evidenced by the hard work PBT puts into fighting for our industry at the state capitol and the hard work that they put into local levels such as Harris County.  It is everyone’s dedication and hard work which enables our bondsmen to stay in business.”

“Of course, loyalty is a two way street and Texas Bondsmen prove that loyalty and respect each and every year through their memberships and continued attendance at our annual convention which has steadily grown and become better year after year.”

At this years meeting there will be presentations on a variety of topics.  There will be a presentation regarding the upcoming Texas legislative session.  Also, there will be presenters regarding "Locating Little Johnnie after a Failure to Appear."  There will be other presentations regarding collections strategies and an overview of other fights regarding bail reform across the United States in 2022.

PBT will continue to be a leader in cutting edge attempts to get the story of the bail industry to our friends, allies and the public.  A year ago, PBT started a new podcast called "The Bail Post."  In the last year, the podcast has had numerous guests across the law enforcement spectrum.  The guests have included the sheriff of Tarrant County, a retired judge, a justice of the peace, bondsmen, insurance company representatives and others.  To celebrate the first anniversary of "The Bail Post" there will be a live recording of the next episode of the podcast at the annual meeting with a special guest.  Additionally, there will be a presentation regarding "Data Mining Treasurers to Expose Bail Reform Failures" wherein our guests discuss how to obtain data from a county to point out bail reform failures.

The agenda for the annual meeting has been approved by the Supreme Court of Texas to satisfy the state requirements for the 8 hour continuning education requirements for bondsmen.

PBT stands out as an organization only because of its members.  When you attend a PBT convention, it is like attending a family reunion.  Every knows everyone and everyone is happy to see everyone.  New people find the environment open and inviting.  It is a really special group of people who are, in the words of Irma and her  committee, Loyal to the core.

Join us for this year's annual meeting of the Professional Bondsmen of Texas and learn why "Loyalty Lives Here!"

Irma Montemayor is the owner of A Fast Action Bail Bonds in Edinburg, Texas.  She is the sectretary of the Professional Bondsmen of Texas and the Chair of the committee in charge of the annual meeting.
