PBT- Representing Bondsmen at the 100th Annual County Judges and Commissioners Association


PBT members Cindy Hammons-Kinder (Board member) and Deborah   K. Farmer (former board member) attended the 100th Annual County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas Conference. They are helping to get the word out about BAD bail reform. Harris County is a prime example of revolving doors, repeat offenders getting out on free bonds with a revolving door at the jail and committing even worse crimes. In SB 6 and SB 9, the Texas Legislature made major changes to article 17.03 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.  On this episode of the Bail Post we begin a new series placing a spotlight on changes to the Criminal Justice System of Texas that are set out in SB 9, SB 6 and several other statutes passed by the Texas Legislature. We will be highlightiing changes to Article 17.03 regarding the use of personal bonds in Texas.  In SB 6 the changes to article 17.03 was one of three major reforms set out in the bill.  In SB 9, artilce 17.03 was tweaked by adding an additional charge on which a defendant is not entitle to a persona bond (felon in possession of a weapon) and one charge was moved from group 3 to to group 2 (terroristic threat). 18-year-old Faces Murder Charge; Alleged Stabbing in North Oak Cliff

An 18-year-old man is in custody in connection with a fatal stabbing Friday night in the Kessler Stevens neighborhood of north Oak Cliff, Dallas police say.  Jose Lucio Villeda-Gavarrete was arrested after the incident on a murder charge, police said. His bail information was not immediately available Saturday.  Officers responded to the stabbing call at about 11:43 p.m. in the 600 block of North Ewing Avenue, near East Jefferson Boulevard and East Eighth Street.  To see more CLICK HERE .

Meet the New President of PBT- Irma Montemayor

Is 2024 the Year of the Woman for the Professional Bondsmen of Texas?  At the recent annual meeting, Irma Montemayor was elected president of PBT.  She will serve for the next two years.  She is only the third woman to be elected President.  She has been involved in the bonding industry since she was 18. "It is my goal to continue to build on the legacy those before me have formed through hard work and dedication.  I pray for the wisdom in all my decisions and pledge to seek guidance and advise from those willing to collaborate in order to continue making PBTx the model association for the rest of the  Country.  God Bless the great State of Texas!" Did You Leave $191,743 Worth of Gold on the Train? Claim It Quick.

A packet of gold bars worth CHF182,000 ($191,743) was left behind on a train in October 2019.  An announcement published in the gazette of the central Swiss canton of Lucerne invites the owner of the gold bars to come forward and claim them. The precious package was found on a train heading from the northeastern Swiss city of St Gallen to Lucerne last October.  Despite the best efforts of the authorities, the rightful owner could not be found. The gold bars were subsequently confiscated by the public prosecutor's office in Lucerne. The owner has five years from the date of confiscation to assert claim on the gold bars.  The Swiss Federal Railways’ centralised lost and found service receives around 300 objects a day that have been left behind on trains. The most valuable misplaced object remains a 1727 Stradivarius violin left behind in 2012. It was estimated to be worth €2.4 million (CHF2.6 million) at the time.  To see more CLICK HERE .
