Wounded Warrior Team Wins PBT Sponsored Skeet Shoot

PBT recently sponsored its first ever skeet shoot competition at its annual meeting.  Bondsmen across the state and across the country were invited to put together teams for the competition.  All the team slots were filled and the competition was fierce.

Glenn and Zina Meeker, owners of AAA Bail Bonds and Texas Bail Bonds, in Seguin, Texas put together several teams.  One team included their part-time employee Joe Lopez.  Joe is a veteran who spent 9 years in the Army, where he served his country proudly.  While serving in Iraq, Joe was badly burned over 36% of his body among other injuries including PTSD.  Joe explained that after 9-11 he was drawn to the military.  He was drawn to stand up for his fellow countrymen and do something to respond to the heinous acts that took place that day.  He strongly believed that as a first generation American, he needed to do his part in his American story and fight for freedom.

Joe spends a lot of his free time working with other wounded veterans through an organization called Texas Hunts for Heroes.  Joe is the Vice President of the South Texas Chapter.  Joe keeps busy working with the Meekers in their bail bond companies and helping other veterans process their experiences through hunting, fishing and other activities.

Joe invited other veteran friends to be apart of his teams sponsored by Glenn and Zina Meeker.

Not only did Joe’s group win best individual shooter, but they also came in second place in the overall team event.  They even had a member of their group on the third-place team.  To say they made their presence known at the event would be an understatement.

Zina Meeker commented, "It was our honor to sponsor this team and to highlight to our bonding community the great veterans we have in our communities."

These special guests consisted of about a dozen wounded veterans, all who overcame different handicaps to shoot circles around the vast majority of the entrants.  In fact, the individual winner of the entire shoot was veteran Tom Quintero, one of these incredible men.

The bonding community was honored with these special guests participating in this event.  These veterans were so humble and grateful for the opportunity to be included in the event, but the truth is that for the bonding community were the ones that were grateful for getting the chance to meet and spend some time with these real American Heroes.
