PBT's Much Loved Executive Director, Susie Cannon, Announces Retirment

Susie Cannon is like family, a much loved and honored family member.  She knows where everything is.  She knows all the family (PBT) stories.  She ensures that the family keeps moving forward.  If you call the PBT phone number, until recently, you spoke to Susie.  If you went to a continuing education class,  you interacted with Susie.  If you had a problem that needed to be solved you spoke to Suzie.  For many years, she has ensured that our continuing education school has been properly approved by the State Bar of Texas.  She ensures that our quarterly meetings, our annual meetings and so many other things are taken care of and are simply done.  We are probably not aware of all the things that Susie does for us and will not know all of them until after says her final goodbyes at the PBT Annual meeting Octboer 11-13, 2023.

Susie Cannon has served numerous presidents of the Professional Bondsmen of Texas.  She has been a fixature of the association for so long that we promised not to give a number.

Last year, Susie Cannon announced that this would be her last year as the Executive Director of the Professional Bondsmen of Texas.  In response, President, Mike Byrd set up a committee to spend the last year, doing the impossible, interviewing to replace the irreplaceable.

In many ways Susie Cannon is PBT.  She always has a smile on her face.  She has never met a stranger and she is at each and everyone of the 10 or more PBT continuning education classes held annually. She ensures that our quarterly meetings are taken care of and she is in charge of the day to day operations of the association.

Susie has been invaluable in helping PBT grow over the years from an association that was small and unorganized to the powerful association with a great reputation that PBT is today.  The Professional Bondsmen of Texas is the voice of the bail industry in Texas.  A lot of that voice has been Susie Cannon.  PBT is a resource for information and research about the Criminal Justice System and about what reforms work and what reforms do not..  Suzie has been a part of PBT as it started its own podcast called The Bail Post.  She witnessed as the association went from knowing nothing about podcasts in less than two years to now having one of the top 10 of the 60 best criminal justice podcasts.

Mike Byrd said that he was successful as president it was in some part because of Susie.  "She has been invaluable as a friend and as our executive director.  We will miss her greatly!"

Please join us for our annual meeting in a couple of weeks so that you can say your final goodbye to Suzie Cannon.  Her retirement officially begins at the end of the PBT Annual Meeting October 10-13, 2023.
